Met Angela and Mark randomly at a brewery and ended up having a great time hanging out with them and an awesome time doing their cocktail tour later in the week. Top notch!!

We did the Magazine Street Foodie Tour, and Angela and Mark, out tour guides, were both great. Enthusiastic, responsive, and very friendly. I wish, however, that our group was smaller than 11 people. We ended up being seated at different tables always, so some groups got some explanations or random information tidbits, while others didn’t. That being said, I loved almost all of the food stops we made, and I appreciate that we tried different food items than I would have expected. Stop 1 – Joey K’s – red beans and rice (5/5), jambalaya (3/5), and eggplant Napoleon (5+/5). Stop 2 – Basin Seafood and Spirits – charbroiled oysters (5+/5) and crab/crawfish beignets (4/5). We also paid extra for a recommended cocktail here, The Good Life, and it was a 5/5. Stop 3 – Mahoney’s – roast beef Po Boy (4/5). This one stop took a full hour though, for 1/4 piece of Po Boy. While the sandwich was ok, it definitely was not worth the time, and I think they need to re-think this place as one of the food stops. Stop 4 – Dat Dog – alligator sausage dog topped with shrimp etouffee in a potato bun (4/5) and local beer Canebrake (4/5). Stop 5 – Sucre – Charlie Brown and S’more gelato (5/5). Of all the tours I’ve taken in New Orleans, this one actually taught me the least, but since I walked away with a content stomach and a plethora of new restaurants to explore, I still left happy.
